Dawson Springs, KY

In December 2021 a devastating F4 tornado ripped through Dawson Springs and the surrounding area in the middle of the night. Being roughly 1 mile wide it flattened everything from homes to businesses, barns, woods and everything in between. Some residents were trapped for days as their neighbors cut through the massive amount of debris to reach them.

Long term power outages and destroyed fences and pastures left many local ranchers stranded without communication and with scattered livestock.

Productive Week

With the help of the Kentucky Cattleman’s Assoc. HART was able to quickly assemble a 4-man crew and start working in the area a few weeks after. The debris and devastation was still overwhelming. Over the course of a week we were fortunate enough to help three separate ranchers and there families. Two had their fences and pastures destroyed by tree damage, while the third has his entire home blown away to the foundation.

Fighting through equipment trouble the crew gathered and removed scattered building debris and cleared over 400 acres of pasture, making way for fences to be repaired and replaced quickly. We were even able to find and return a handful of small personal items to the family who lost their home.
